Former Greenrock CEO Inducted Into ULI Championship Team

TORONTO, July 4, 2022 – We are proud to announce that the Toronto Urban Land Institute (ULI) has bestowed Gloria Mogavero the honour of joining its Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) Championship Team. The WLI Championship Team is dedicated to spotlighting influential women in the Toronto real estate industry who exhibit strong leadership skills and support the development of a healthier, more prosperous and equitable region.

Gloria joined Greenrock in 2010 and served as Chief Executive Officer for over a decade before retiring this past April. She has 45 years of experience at some of Canada’s top real estate leaders and developers such as CB Richard Ellis as Operations Manager for a 3 million square foot commercial portfolio for the Bank of Nova Scotia, which included Scotia Plaza, and at Greenwin Property Management Inc. as Executive Vice-President.

Gloria first began her career as a secretary and went on to take a Chartered Accountant (CA) course where she was one of only a handful of women. She learned quickly it would take a great deal of confidence, determination, and perseverance to make it in this industry. She spent many long hours working a full day in the office and going to night school in the evenings. It took an immense amount of hard work to accomplish the success she has achieved to date. She now uses her voice and leadership skills to shape communities that are inclusive and provide equitable opportunities for all to succeed.

In her time as CEO at Greenrock, Gloria played a critical role in the repositioning plan for Postmedia Place (365 Bloor St. E). Her efforts increased the value of the building three-fold over five years and led to Postmedia Place being awarded the BOMA Canada National Earth Award.

Gloria was also instrumental in implementing a company culture that makes giving back a priority. Thanks to her influence, Greenrock earned the first Company Culture Award of Excellence and the Outstanding Community Service Award at the 2019 Federation of Rental Housing Providers of Ontario MAC Gala.

It was this same community-minded approach to real estate that earned Greenrock the 2021 Canadian Federation of Apartment Associations (CFAA) Rental Housing Provider of the Year Award. Gloria was deeply involved in the development of Greenrock’s multi-faceted COVID-19 response which encompassed a $4 Million relief fund with donations to over 50 Canadian non-profits and $600 each of grocery gift cards to all suites in Greenrock’s 2000-suite residential portfolio. Greenrock also offered a last month’s rent program whereby residents had the option to use their last month’s rent as a credit towards upcoming rent payments if they were struggling financially during the pandemic.

Gloria shared in a recent interview for International Women’s Day that “it was always [her] dream to be part of a company that valued excellence in service to its clients, residents, tenants and staff.” She looks forward to continuing fostering mentorship opportunities for other young women in the real estate industry as she fully embraces this new chapter of retirement.
