Greenrock Real Estate Advisors Donates Further $20,000 to Toronto Charities During COVID-19

Shortly after announcing the winners of its annual resident donation program, Greenrock is donating $10,000 each to Daily Bread Food Bank and SPRINT Senior Care.

Among many Canadian cities, Toronto is one of the communities hit hardest by the pandemic. With the number of cases rising daily, Greenrock is committed to giving back to charitable organizations that directly support residents, neighbors, and community members in this great time of need.

The Daily Bread Food Bank is one of Canada’s largest food banks and supplies food to nearly 200 food programs across Toronto with a fleet of five trucks. Greenrock donated $150,000 to Daily Bread Food Bank earlier this year as part of its COVID-19 Relief Fund, which has now exceeded $2 Million. With food insecurity on the rise due to job loss and financial constraints during the pandemic, the volunteers at Daily Bread Food Bank are working tirelessly to ensure no one goes hungry this holiday season.

SPRINT Senior Care is a not-for-profit community support service agency in Toronto that Greenrock has supported throughout the years, offering a wide range of practical and low-cost services to seniors and their caregivers.

Since the early onset of the pandemic, SPRINT Senior Care established a COVID-19 Community Response Team with a variety of initiatives to address the impacts of the pandemic, such as a grocery delivery program, meals on wheels, and wellness checks. The organization was a runner up in the 2020 Greenrock IMPACT Resident Donation program, which donated $100,000 to five local charities voted by residents in December.

Greenrock is optimistic that 2021 will be a brighter year for Canada, especially with the arrival of the new COVID-19 vaccine.

Greenrock Gifts Over $100,000 to Canadian Charities on Behalf of Residents, Tenants

TORONTO, December 10, 2020 – In the season of giving, Greenrock residents and tenants voted for several charities across Canada to receive donations through the company’s annual holiday donation programs.

The Greenrock IMPACT Resident Donation is a unique program that was first launched in 2018 and directly involves residents in the nominating and voting process to select winning charities to receive funding each year.

At a virtual ceremony on December 9th, the five Canadian charities below were announced as the winners of the 2020 Greenrock IMPACT Resident Donation and will each receive $20,000 donations:

“It is our pleasure to gift these donations on behalf of the caring and community-minded residents who shared their voice with us this holiday season,” says Gloria Mogavero, Greenrock Chief Executive Officer.

The Redwood received an additional $10,000 on behalf of Postmedia Place tenants, who participated in the annual Greenrock IMPACT Tenant Donation.

“It is truly inspirational the generosity that Greenrock Real Estate Advisors continues to show our emergency shelter and support services for women and children fleeing domestic violence,” says Abi Ajibolade, Executive Director of The Redwood.

The Greenrock IMPACT Committee carefully selected 11 nominees for this year’s voting ballots, which included a wide range of charitable organizations across the country that reflect Greenrock’s values and commitment to diversity.

Greenrock’s COVID-19 Relief Fund Exceeds $2 Million

The season of giving is upon us, and with no clear end in sight for the pandemic, Greenrock extends further support for its residents and community members through donations and gifts.

Greenrock IMPACT announced in June 2020 the recipients of its $1.5 Million COVID-19 Relief Fund, which included $900,000 of donations to charities across Canada and $600,000 of grocery gift certificates between April and June 2020 to assist with residents’ household expenses.

Greenrock recently added a further $600,000 of resident support, bringing the fund’s total to $2.25 Million. All units in Greenrock’s 2000-suite portfolio will receive additional $100 grocery gift certificates in each of October, November, and December 2020.

“These unusual times have affected so many of us and we want to help those who have made their home in our buildings,” says Greenrock’s Chief Operating Officer Justin Taylor.

Many residents have reached out thanking Greenrock for its generosity, noting that with rising food prices and unsteady incomes, the extra grocery money is a big help. Some even passed part of their gift forward as an act of kindness and donated the money to local food banks.

Aside from the COVID-19 Relief Fund, Greenrock’s charitable support will carry on this holiday season through the 2020 Greenrock IMPACT Resident Donation. The five charities on this year’s ballot with the most votes by residents will each receive $20,000. The winners will be announced during a virtual ceremony in the coming weeks. Greenrock Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Donates $10K to Local Charities

As part of Greenrock IMPACT’s company-wide initiatives for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, two local charities dedicated to improving the lives of women battling breast cancer received $10,000 through the Greenrock Charitable Trust.

Donations of $5,000 each were made to Look Good Feel Better and After Breast Cancer, which are both based in Toronto and focus on boosting the self-esteem of women fighting or recovering from breast cancer.

Look Good Feel Better offers complimentary workshops in hospitals and cancer centres across Canada to help women with cancer regain self-confidence and feel like themselves again. After Breast Cancer helps women with no insurance and limited financial resources become reacquainted with their new bodies by providing a mastectomy bra, camisole, and breast prosthesis at no cost to them after breast surgery.

Greenrock is a strong supporter of women’s health and appreciates the valuable work of organizations like After Breast Cancer and Look Good Feel Better in supporting women with breast cancer.

“It is so important for us support and empower women in our local communities. We hope to see these charities thrive for years to come,” says Greenrock’s CEO Gloria Mogavero.

Staff across the company, fondly referred to as “RockStars,” also sported pink hats and ribbon pins throughout the month to raise awareness for the cause (see gallery below).

Greenrock Creates $500K COVID-19 Relief Fund

Greenrock Real Estate Advisors unveils its plans to address the impacts of COVID-19 through community donations and resident support.

TORONTO, March 26, 2020 – Greenrock Real Estate Advisors’ (GREA) is proud to announce it will be implementing a series of initiatives to assist its residents and community members amid the COVID-19 crisis, including:

  • $300,000 towards local charitable organizations;
  • a rent assistance program that allows residents to use their last month’s rent deposit as a credit towards their rent payments;
  • the deferral of rent increase notices;
  • $200,000 of grocery gift cards for all Greenrock managed residential units; and
  • a specialized germ protection treatment program.

COVID-19 has created unique and extreme challenges for our city and communities. GREA through its Greenrock Charitable Trust has pledged $300,000 towards local charitable organizations to address concerns surrounding food security, mental health, domestic abuse, and senior care during this crisis. The first tranche of these donations will be $100,000 with additional amounts being donated to local charities in the months ahead. Initially, GREA will be donating $50,000 to the Daily Bread Food Bank and $10,000 each to Stella’s Place, Kids Help Phone, The 519, The Redwood, and Sprint Senior Care. GREA’s IMPACT committee will continue to seek ways to support its community partners during this crisis.

GREA is also cognisant of the financial hardships its residents may face during this time. While our three levels of Government have promised various measures of support, it will take time for these relief funds to be disbursed.

Greenrock Property Management Ltd. has created a program whereby residents in need can choose to have their last month’s rent (LMR) deposit used as a credit towards their regular rent payments. Residents may choose to use a portion of this credit, or the full amount that can be replenished in the future at no additional cost or interest.

GREA will also be gifting $100 grocery gift cards to its residents (one per unit) to help with each household’s cost of groceries. Due to the need for social distancing, all cards will be mailed directly.

In addition to increased cleaning measures, GREA will be treating all high-touch surfaces in the common areas of its residential and commercial buildings with the GermGuard Treat and Protect Program. This treatment is registered by Health Canada and kills up to 99% of germs on contact.

This program also works as a safety net between cleanings to reduce and protect against germs and bacteria for up to six months.
