Mental Health, BIPOC, Shelters Voted Top Causes for Greenrock Holiday Donations

TORONTO, January 10, 2022 – Half a dozen Toronto charities were gifted over $100,000 this winter thanks to the support of hundreds of Greenrock residents and tenants across the city who voted for the causes most meaningful to them.

The 2021 Greenrock IMPACT Resident and Tenant Donation recipients include Caribbean African Canadian (CAFCAN) Social Services, Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre, The Neighbourhood Group/St. Stephen’s Community House, First Interfaith Out of the Cold Program, Progress Place Clubhouse, and Distress Centres of Greater Toronto.

The Greenrock IMPACT Resident and Tenant Donation is an annual program that began in 2018 and directly involves those living and working in Greenrock buildings in the voting process to decide which causes and charities are most in need of support during the holidays.

“We feel truly gratified to support the causes most meaningful to our residents and tenants,” says Greenrock Chief Executive Officer Barbara Rodgers. “How fortunate we are to have an abundance of caring and engaged community members in our Greenrock communities.”

The causes with the highest votes by residents and tenants this year were mental health, BIPOC communities, and shelters/emergency housing. Greenrock’s IMPACT Committee collaborated with the Executive Team and Board of Directors to nominate six registered, local, non-political, non-religious charities to receive donations through the Greenrock Charitable Trust.

This time last year, Greenrock donated over $100,000 to Across Boundaries, Ontario Native Women’s Association, Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada, Fort York Food Bank, and The Redwood as part of the 2020 Greenrock IMPACT Resident and Tenant Donation

Greenrock Gifts Over $100,000 to Canadian Charities on Behalf of Residents, Tenants

TORONTO, December 10, 2020 – In the season of giving, Greenrock residents and tenants voted for several charities across Canada to receive donations through the company’s annual holiday donation programs.

The Greenrock IMPACT Resident Donation is a unique program that was first launched in 2018 and directly involves residents in the nominating and voting process to select winning charities to receive funding each year.

At a virtual ceremony on December 9th, the five Canadian charities below were announced as the winners of the 2020 Greenrock IMPACT Resident Donation and will each receive $20,000 donations:

“It is our pleasure to gift these donations on behalf of the caring and community-minded residents who shared their voice with us this holiday season,” says Gloria Mogavero, Greenrock Chief Executive Officer.

The Redwood received an additional $10,000 on behalf of Postmedia Place tenants, who participated in the annual Greenrock IMPACT Tenant Donation.

“It is truly inspirational the generosity that Greenrock Real Estate Advisors continues to show our emergency shelter and support services for women and children fleeing domestic violence,” says Abi Ajibolade, Executive Director of The Redwood.

The Greenrock IMPACT Committee carefully selected 11 nominees for this year’s voting ballots, which included a wide range of charitable organizations across the country that reflect Greenrock’s values and commitment to diversity.
